Located in the south of China, Yunnan Province is one of China’s most visited provinces. Yunnan has a wonderful year round climate, incredible natural resources, ancient towns, and almost one third of China’s Ethnic Minority groups. Visitors never fail to leave the province wanting more.
Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province is generally the first stop of any visit to the province. The Stone Forest, located in Kunming is one of the most incredible natural wonders in China. Its limestone rocks have been carved into bizarre shapes by millions of years of wind and rain. It is said that a visit to Kunming is not complete without seeing the Stone Forest.

The Dali Ancient City is a place where time seems to stand still. Most of the buildings in the city date back to the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) Dynasties. The architecture is built in the style of the Bai Ethnic Minority group making it unique. Located outside the city are three ancient pagodas. Built during the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the pagodas were built in a symmetrical triangle and are the only pagodas built this way in China.
The Impressions of Lijiant Performance, located near the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is an unforgettable show. Created by Zhang Yimou, China’s premiere movie director, the performance utilizes hundreds of local farmers and showcases the culture and clothing of the local minority groups.
A favorite with visitors for many years, the Lijiang Old Town is filled with ethnic minority culture. The majority of the residents are from the Naxi Dongba Ethnic Minority group and the town reflects this. The architecture is unique and the culture in it are built in their unique styles. The town is filled with their culture, which makes Lijiang unique in China. There are many sites of interest in the town including the Lion Hill. The hill gives incredible bird’s eye views of the ancient town. Other treats are the Naxi Ethnic music, and performances.
